Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County is, as the name suggests, originally a part of the historic homeland of the Manchurian People, who have by now all but disappeared as a true Ethnic Minority Peoples of the Peoples Republic of China. Historically therefor Qinglong, or at least large parts there of, are a part of Manchuria and not of the historic China proper. Among things, this can be understood from the fact that the Great Wall of China runs right through Qinglong County, thus marking the historic border as it was in the 12th to 14th centuries when the Han Chinese Ming fixed the wall in brick, hoping to stave off the rise of the neighboring Manchu People and the Kingdom of the Qing which had its Capital at Mukden (today's Shenyang, Capital of Liaoning Province which is sometimes dubbed the homeland of the Manchu People). To be slightly more exact on this topic; as can be judged from the various available maps the Great Wall of China passes at a considerable distance south of Qinglong Town and in fact, as late a during the finally victorious ManchuQing Dynasty (1644 AD - 1911 AD) which made a blitz conquest of China in 1644 AD, the true border with China was considered to lay even further south, incorporating significantly the Summer Resort and Imperial Palace Town of Chengde as a part of Manchuria rather than China. Until 1911 AD Chengde was considered a border town and a gateway into Machurian territory, as was the Shanhaiguan Fortress pass of the Great Wall of China further to the east.
All that said, over the last century many things have changed dramatically and amon things as a result of a slow but steady Han migration into the fertile and under-

developed Manchurian lands of yesteryear today Qinglong County should be considered thoroughly a part of Chinese Teritory. Eventhough the County is nominally autonomous as a location of majority Manchu Residence, in all but name the proud nomadic Manchu Tribesmen have assimilated with the sedentary Han Chinese farmers in every respect. The once vast forest have been reduced and the grassy plains tha served as hunting grouns for the Qing, have long been developed into cultivated lands, at least in most of Qinglong County.
Today the Qinglong Town and County are part of Qinghuangdao City Prefecture in Eastern China's Hebei Province. Qinglong County is situated due north by north east of Tianjin City and due east by north east of Beijing City, the Capital of the Peoples Republic of China.
Qinglong is a county in the north western parts of Qinhuangdao Prefecture and in the north the county borders on current day Huludao Prefecture of Liaoning Province.
Qinglong County is the place of origin of the Qinglong River which is also the largest river in the county. The most well know Landmarks and Monuments of the County are the various sections of the Great Wall of China. These are from west to east: Luweishan Great Wall, Taolingkou Great Wall and Jielingkou Great Wall. From Jielingkou the Great Wall of China passes into the neighboring (and much smaller) Funing County wich is also part of Qinhuangdao Prefecture.
