Chengguan District stretches along the South and North River Bank of the Yellow River and is the largest of the two 'downtown' districts. The River passes through the City roughly from West to East. Qilihe District is located upstream from the Chengguan District on the South Bank and is named after the Qili River which cuts through it to join the Yellow River (Huang He).
The Five City Districts are: (Chengguan District (城关区), Qilihe District (七里河区), Xigu District (西固区), Anning District (安宁区) and Honggu District (红古区).
