Empress Dowager Cixi, a.k.a. Empress XiaoQin Xian was born from the Yehonala (or Yehonara) Clan. In 1852 AD, Cixi first entered the Imperial Palace as a concubine-in-waiting. After her selection for the Imperial Court, she was named as the honorable Lady Lan, by XianFeng (Hsien Feng). the Emperor Yizhu himself.
Upon giving Birth to the First Born Son of the Emperor in the year 1856 AD, the baby ZaiChun (later Emperor Tongzhi), she was promoted to be the Imperial Concubine Lady Yi.
A year later already she was once more promoted to the title of Honorable Concubine the Lady Yi.
