Welcome to The Beijing Report extended Tour of the Summer Palace. The Summer Palace, another United Nations World Heritage Site in Beijing , welcomes over 7 million visitors each year.
In 2005 AD new repairs on the Palace Commenced. A 6 million US Dollar investment was made in order to compeletely preserve and restore the Pavilion of Buddhist Fragrance (FoXiang Ge) and the Cloud Dispersing Hall (Paiyundian), both two sacred religious spots located atop the 58 Meter Tall Longevity Hill, which is clearly visible from anywhere along Kunming Lake.
Repair taks will mainly include repairing broken roof tiles, replacing the pavement for the many flocks of tourists expected for the 2008 AD Olympic Games, and more importantly proofing all structures in the park against weather influences, and rehabilitating and restoring ancient paintings.
