This Gate of Heavenly Purity lies on the Central Axis of the Palace (Museum) North of the Hall of Supreme- & Medium- Harmony and directly behind the Hall of Preserving Harmony (Baohedian).
Pass through the Gate of Heavenly Purity and gain access to the Imperial Families' residential Palaces.

During the Ching Dynasty the Emperors held audiences with their officials at Qian Qing Men Gate.

The Gate is guarded by the gilded Golden Lions, who's heads are tilted slightly inward toward the Imperial Road, the central axis along which the Emperor exclusively moved.

Behind Qian Qing Men lie the three Main Halls of the Inner Court, also known as the Rear Palaces. The Halls, all located on the Central Axis of both Palace and City, are the Qian Qing Gong - Palace of Heavenly Purity, the Jiao Tai Dian - Hall of Unity, and the Kun Ning Gong - Palace of Earthly Tranquility.
